William Whisenant
Junior Partner / Wealth Management Advisor
Will graduated from Bolton High School in 2012, and joined the Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator that December. After completing two-and-a-half years of training, he reported to his submarine the USS West Virginia. There he served a remarkably successful first tour buoying his division after multiple unplanned losses.
His next command was Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, where he taught Digital Microprocessors before being hand-selected to be a Section Leader, a position normally held by those of higher ranks. During this time, he was personally responsible for the personal and professional development of over 200 junior sailors as they progressed through the military’s most academically rigorous training pipeline. In the Fall of 2021, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology with a 4.0 GPA and became a member of the American Nuclear Honor Society. His leadership style and abilities led to one of his classes achieving the second-highest performing class-average GPA in the almost 75-year history of the program. Before being discharged from the Navy, he earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Will and his wife Liesl welcomed their daughter Evelyn in November 2020. This major life event re-shifted his priorities and led to their return home so Evelyn would grow up surrounded by their families. During his time as a Section Leader, he found much personal satisfaction in helping his sailors achieve their goals personally, financially, and professionally. This led to him discovering his passion for helping others navigate their priorities to unlock their calling, and from there helping them reach that calling by aligning their financial goals to support what they find to be most important to them.
Will has been with Oestriecher Financial Management Services since his discharge from the Navy in August of 2022. The firm has readily employed his superior latent skills he developed in the Navy to improve upon an already superior client experience. He has earned his Securities licenses and will begin pursuing his Master’s in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia in the Fall of 2023.
